I will always tip anywhere I go they are making 15+ but they work hard. You might think all that goes into it is pouring some drinks but it's more then that. The drinks are expensive bc they pay a decent wage they also have amazing benefits for people trying to grow in the world with little to no money. Did you know that starbucks offers free college to there employees. Tips don't make or break their day but it is always a nice bonus when your broke or need to pay for gas.

No, tip culture has gone wild.
I tip for table service and for takeout if they are prompt and do a good job (but at a much lower percentage). I do not tip for people who just do their jobs at counter service (e.g., Starbucks, fast food). I tip for personal services (e.g., hairstylists, massage therapists), but I do not tip people who support those services (e.g., the person who sweeps up the hair at the salon or the cashier/hostess at the spa). I agree that tip culture is out of control. I tip for service - and tip well for exceptional service. I do not tip for folks doing a job they are paid to do.

Yes. You tip for the drink they made and service. Otherwise make your own.
SMLE1 Why are still debating this person?? They disregard key facts and arguments, totally biased and has this sense of entitlement concerning what ppl should do w/thier $$ 🤣🤣🤣 He's perpetuating the problem on behalf of him/herself & family who owns a coffee shop, but refuses to pay decent wages. I've definitely started tipping WAY less often bc this tipping culture is outta control
Are you serious? Tipping has ALWAYS been expected at coffee shops. I worked at a coffee shop fifteen years ago and essentially lived on tips. Tip your barista! Just a dollar per drink.
Hahahahaha Starbucks is not a “coffee shop” it is fast food. Even then, tipping is only expected at restaurants. Not for people putting shots of espresso in a drink.
NO NO NO ‼️
Never ever tip at a counter or drive thru ‼️
As long as I make six figures and the serving class is exploited by the owners, I'm gonna be a good tipper.
The second I get a chance, though, I'm voting to do away with tipping altogether.

Most wait staff make like $35k a year 🙃
I'll never understand why a person being paid $15/hr thinks it's my responsibility to make up the gap in their salaries from their desired income. I tip for good service, better for above and beyond service, and sometimes, just because I can or to spread a little cheer. That they think it's our responsibility, that they're somehow entitled to what's in my pocket, that I'm supposed to just give away even more of my hard earned $ everytime I want a beverage/menu item, baffles me. That's an employer issue, not a customer problem.

Where did I make fun of poor? Delusional too.

It’s just gonna ask you a few questions…
I have always been a generous tipper at restaurants, bars, etc (25-30%) but am 90% of the time not going to tip for coffee, breakfast sandwiches, etc. The one exception I usually make is ice cream at a place near my house because it is absurdly cheap so I usually throw a dollar in the tip jar. Most Starbucks employees (at least near me) make close to $20/hr, so I don’t feel tipping is necessary.
We work 7-10x harder than making coffee

I dont tip and when it became expected with a "would you like to include a tip" i stopped going and just do foldgers drip like the cheapskate I am. I went to tip the chik fil a food runner last week when they were dropping off food to all the cars in the pouring rain and the guy said "thank you, but we dont accept tips. We're just happy to serve you and hope you come back again soon". So I'll be going back again soon....fyi, my chik fil a meal cost about the same as my starbucks muffin and vanilla latte and I'm pretty sure the food runner makes less than the barista so something is not adding up.
💯!! Just like customer service or call center agents. A good one actually helps resolve service and billing issues. They're paid less than baristas, but definitely much more valuable service. I agree. Definitely not adding up.
i had never tipped in my whole life. i dont employ pple, why should i pay them. i pay for the food i ordered at restaurants only. im proud to not tip lol
Damn Bob better pay these auditors more money so they can afford to tip when eating out.
tip your barista just like you tip your bartender. a buck a drink or whatever. this has always been standard practice. y’all acting like it’s new are just cheap.
Pro
And your neighborhood coffee shop? Who goes to starbucks. Their coffee is gross.
Everyone has a strong opinion on this, but just do what makes you feel good about the transaction.
Personally, I know that $1 (not just from me, but every customer before and after me that day) means a lot more to a barista making far less than me, so I tend to tip when given the option.
But I think there are plenty of fair arguments on the other side -- particularly when we are talking about a chain like Starbucks, and pay for workers is publicly reported and we know they are not getting paid $2 an hour and need to survive off tips. But, ultimately, do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
Rising Star
Nope. I sure as heck don’t. That’s like tipping at McDs. Not happening.
Right!! Good point!
This is why I don’t buy my coffee. Lol
Really wish people were paid a living wage & tipping would go away entirely.
F that
🤣🤣🤣 We've all working hard for our money and we're all impacted by inflation.
I do tip because I feel awkward and on the spot but then when my $ 6.00 coffee becomes a $ 7.00 coffee, I resent it .
Now you’re gonna ask me to tip my Uber driver???
Pro
Im pretty sure if you dont tip your uber/lyft driver they can leave a review on you so other drivers know...which means when you need a ride drivers around might not bother to pick you up. It might be worthwhile tipping the ppl you rely on for things like transportation....
