As a Junior Devops Engineer, where can I get practical hands-on experience of technologies/ skills that I'm learning. Can anyone suggest?

Currently interviewing for a nontechnical role (final round is getting scheduled rn) and I see there’s a new job posting for a different role that I might be more excited by, for the same/associated team. What do I do?? Email my recruiter saying I want to be considered? Apply? How does going for two roles work? The referral from the original job I’m interviewing for has expired fwiw.

3L with mostly A’s and B’s. I am having the worst luck trying to find work for after school and my experience working with lawyers has left me completely dejected. I cannot get an interview to save my life. I was so excited to get an externship summer after 2L with a small business and IP firm only to get yelled at on the phone a few times for not doing an assignment correctly. I’m doing a cs degree rn & I want to be an appsec engineer but I’m not sure which is a better path for growth: Path A: SMART scholarship which involves a 4 year gov commitment after college grad. But they offer a stipend and full cost of college (I already covered cost of college)
