Ultimately, awards don't mean anything outside of advertising. Instead, look at every brief as an award brief and take what other people don't want. As juniors, my partner and I took the non profit clients nobody wanted because they didn't have money and we ended up getting to go shoot in India and did really fun and meaningful work for them. We were creative at how we did the project and worked to get sponsors and collaborators. I've done some of my best work that way.
Do you have a CW mentor at your agency? Maybe they would be willing to share briefs with you and talk about strategy and how their work evolved on the project? Not the answer you’re looking for, but I think learning about people’s processes is always good!

What is a meatier brief? As a young professional you should learn how and why an idea or campaign benefits the clients business and learn to present it.
Just came across this serendipitously on LinkedIn. This is what I’m getting at with my rambling posts. Definitely worth the read.
JC, one thing I’ve done on projects is to “yes and” the brief. They ask for bargain basement banner? Come up with a concept (even if people are just telling you it needs to say BUY NOW), present the concept, the box-checking banner that fits that concept, and then an execution or two they didn’t ask for.
Even if none of it gets bought, you just got some good reps in, and showed your CDs you can do more while not needing a breef (that’s a beefy brief, in case you were wondering)
