Very random, but does anyone know how to remove the smell of smoke from an apartment/furniture? Had a microwave incident recently and there was a lot of smoke and I worry the smell won’t go away.

You could also try getting some carpet deodorizer and shake it all over the couch, and vacuum it up (depending on your couch material).

It probably depends on how deep it got in there. Febreeze fabric is worth a shot. Never personally used on smoke, but had success on vacation rental furniture (took a couple passes after first spray and letting it dry). It will smell like Febreeze for a bit then slowly fade to basically nothing

We just had this happen. It took a while for our house to clear - we went with a few open windows during the day and three air purifiers at night.

We also scrubbed all the cabinets and walls. There is no more smell - but it took ~4 weeks to fully subside.

Sounds weird but leaving a couple bowls of vinegar out could help expedite it. In the short run your apartment will smell like vinegar, but it fades quicker than the burnt smell. Had to use that trick in college when a roommate tried to make easy-Mac but forgot to add water 😑

Order a cheap ozone generator (this is what hotels, car rental places, etc use) and run it for a few hours. Just remember that ozone is bad for humans, pets, and plants so you’ll need to put them in another room while it runs and for a bit while the room airs out.

Banggood has a bunch for example (see below), but if lead time is important maybe overpay for it or see if you can rent one locally.

If you’re hoping to find a housing deal, you’re out of luck in the short term.
Maybe if you can deal with the higher payments for the next 3 years and sell/refinance above today’s prices you’ll be ok, but this isn’t going to be pretty.
