Aside from rent or mortgage, what’s the one monthly expense that always sneaks up on you? I recently took a hard look at my spending and was honestly shocked at how much I’ve been dropping on eating out and food delivery. It adds up quickly and feels a little out of control! Curious if anyone else has a sneaky category like that?

Eating out for sure can become a big expense! Subscription services were one of my biggest surprises. Well over 100$ a month. Music, streaming, games, all little things, added up to so much! Definitely scaled back, make sure that we are using the things we are paying money for.

Totally agree! Those small charges really sneak up! I was shocked when I added up all my food delivery and dining out too. You reminded me about the subscription charge! I will have to check it too.

Monthly? The cellphone bill. I get used to certain prices and then get sticker shock when I think about upgrading the phone, which means an upgrade on the service.

I’d rather have a $65 /month phone plan without all the add on benefits like Hulu basic or money off gas. Quality service without the extra frills.

Totally get that! Phone bills can sneak up on you, especially with all the bundled “perks” you don’t really use. I downgraded last year just to keep it simple and save a little each month.

Definitely the grocery bill. I don’t eat out much, but even just walking aisles and putting extra things in my cart add up. Trying to be better at planning ahead

Totally get that - grocery runs can add up so fast, especially with all the little impulse buys. I’ve been trying to plan meals and make a list before going, but it’s still hard not to grab a few “extras”!

Food definitely! Dont realise how many little shop trips I do that all add up

I hear you! Those quick trips for snacks or random groceries can really stack up without us noticing!

As it’s been getting colder I’ve been dabbling in soups. This is a brie and mushroom soup paired with balsamic onion & mushroom toast. It was super tasty and really hit the spot. It can also be used in place of cream of mushroom from a can in recipes if you’re looking for a different taste.
