In my experience firms provide feedback if they want you to apply again. When I interviewed 3 months ago the recruiter gave me a good detailed email with bullets on how to improve, mostly surrounding my case and encouraged me to apply again in the near future
Totally hear you, but I think their reasoning is probably:
- A friend’s bad experience probably wouldn’t stop someone from applying at all, though it might stop someone from choosing them over another offer.
- At the point that you need to accept one over another, they’ve treated you differently than rejections anyway because you’ve been accepted.
- This is likely only relevant for candidates who get cross offers between MBB. If someone gets an offer from only BCG out of MBB and e.g., Oliver Wyman, they’re probably going to pick BCG even if a friend had a bad experience

I mean it’s a nice-to-have, but I also feel like it’s rare to get and shouldn’t be expected
I kind of agree with this. No one is really entitled to interview feedback.
Lol be grateful you got an interview
Be grateful that I am responding to you 🫠

On a more serious note, while you could've been nicer to BCG in your Fishbowl post, I don't actually care--and I'm sorry your recruiting contact didn't let you know about your result. Hopefully you've followed up with them and gotten an answer, OP.
As an MBA recruit from some years ago, I really admired the fact that we gave everyone interview feedback. It's a nice way of saying that we think everyone we interview is worth the investment of time, and everyone could come back to get an offer (as so many do). I hope we're still giving feedback as often as logistically possible.

Do we provide feedback? I know the tech companies has a policy that prohibits feedback on interviews.

I mean that’s not great unless there are extenuating circumstances. Can you just email HR and just ask for the result? My application did at least get stuck for a little bit at one of MBB
Feedback is nice to have but not standard. I don’t know if Bain does this? I feel like if you were to get feedback, it wouldn’t come from your HR recruiter, it would come from one of your specific interviewer. In that case and assuming you didn’t get it during the reject/pass call, I wouldn’t expect any feedback unless they said “let me know if you would like feedback” and gave you their email
Oh okay! Yes, totally makes sense for campus interviews. For a zoom first-round interview it seems non-routine though right? I’ve only done one recruiting season since joining Bain, I’m pretty sure I didn’t have to give anyone feedback
Although I agree with the other 🐠 that the OP could have worded the post a bit differently, I really understand what it feels like not to get feedback. I actually had a similar experience with BCG, made it to the final round and got a call from the recruitment manager to reject me. She wasn’t able to provide valuable feedback as she actually was very enthusiastic about our conversation and my feedback had to do with case leadership. I understand that partners are busy people, but I personally thought it was a bit rude not to call me personally to provide feedback after all the time they had asked me to put in. The interview process at BCG is so time-intensive, having to do the online case with a bot, 2 first round interviews, followed by a personality test and an essay on personal development after the first round, and finally 4 interviews in the final round. The least they could do was provide me with a clear reason for my rejection.
Sounds like you’ll have a completely different process haha! In my region you have to do the case bot before you are granted an actual interview, so it’s an additional cut-off point. I’ve heard of other offices that use it as part of the first round. I also didn’t have a behavioral interview until the final round. Would rather not say which exact office it was, but it was in Europe
