At the beginning of the year, office life feels a bit relaxed. I think this is the best time to invest in learning a new skill. What do you think is more helpful to truly shine in a career—technical skills, communication, leadership, or certifications? Let’s share ideas and grow together this year. Early effort now can create confidence, opportunities, and long-term professional success.

Communication and leadership helps since it’ll make the job a lot easier and limit the amount of errors. It will also create more efficiency

Totally agree with you

I agree that the beginning of the year is a great time to think about self-improvement. I'm not expecting things in the office to be very relaxed, to be honest. But I have been thinking of taking a course on AI just to get myself on the bandwagon. I'm something of an AI skeptic, but it's not going away, so I feel like I need to learn what I can before I feel like I'm way behind the curve.

Thanks for share your experience

Honestly, those are all great things to focus on. Leadership would depend on whether or not you have a desire to move up into a leadership role. Communication is always a great thing to work on.

Totally agree with you

I’ve been thinking about starting something AI-related just to keep up with all the changes

Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?

I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

User experience mgr salary? I support six product teams and eight reports. 20+ years experience

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Does anybody know what the typical salary range is and total comp for someone starting out as an internal or external wholesaler? If you are one of these, can you share about your experience in terms of whether you liked it or not, work life balance, travel, etc?

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.
