Wait.
If it's not listed on the job description, I like to bring it up sooner rather than later. Better to avoid wasting their time and mine.
Usually they bring it up or I wait til the end to ask.
Bring it up in the first interview. It saves everyone time or puts everyone on the same page.
If they bring it up, I try to leave my answer as open, especially if I know what the job salary is based on their post. I have been told by a very large consulting firm that the salary band that was listed did not include my city and my city band was Much lower than the salary band that was listed. They have since started listing cities, but none of them have been my city that they’re located in.
Definitely do your homework and see what the range should be and have that range in mind when you start those discussions. I understand everybody’s thoughts on wasting time but many times in that first interview they’re trying to figure out who will take the lowest amount of pay.
I think it should be done on first interview. Otherwise it wastes time for both parties
