Average studio price is no less than $2,000 in any decent Berkeley/SF neighborhood. Downtown Berkeley right near BART is probably $2,200-2,400 for a comfy place but just like SF it can range up towards $3,000 on the high end (or rather, middle class end). In all honesty I’d consider living with housemates in a nice SF neighborhood and saving $1k+ per month with a shorter commute and nicer quality of life.
30 minutes not possible if you have to cross the Bay Bridge during work hours (7-10am). The commute is at least 1 hour with traffic.
That being said you can find some pretty nice housing for much cheaper in those areas so it’s just up to you on what you’re prioritizing
Gotcha makes sense! Thanks for explaining
Similar to New York, the shorter the commute to the city, the more expensive the rent. You can get cheaper studios or 1BR, but your commute will be longer.
I’d say you can get a nice (not like magnificent but with in unit dishwasher, washer/dryer) studio in SF for $2600+. Less nice studios (or less nice neighborhoods within SF) may be less.
Wow yeah I was looking but wasn’t sure if I was looking at the right neighborhoods…that’s so pricey
You do not want that commute, I promise
