I’ve heard mixed things overall, and the merger seems to be a work in progress. Leadership’s still adjusting obviously, but I think things are starting to settle at least a little bit. I"m not in the KC office but I hear that it feels like some good changes, with some new energy. How are you feeling about it? Any specific challenges you’ve noticed?

It has been fine. Honestly the Barkley and OKRP offices had very different clients so there hasn't been much of a difference day-to-day, though my team gets to work on agency-wide Burger King briefs so I guess that's cool? Seems more of a bunch of shifts in leadership than people at my level.

One thing I will say: it may have been a combination of the Barkley and OKRP brands, but from a back-office perspective, I'm not sure how much changed. The two agencies are owned by the same private equity firm, so I don't know how much of a "real" merger it was in terms of where the money is going.

Does anyone feel like it’s difficult to gain acceptance and find allies when you’re a POC? I have attended happy hours, social events, and lunches, but I am not getting the same amount of traction as the other new lawyers who are white. Don’t know whether I should keep trying or just give up. Also don’t know whether it’s my personality or people at the firm. 😢

Due to a family situation we are looking to move to a different state. Normally we would sell our current home and buy a new home in our new location. However, with todays prices and interest, will it make more sense to rent out our current home and rent a home ourselves vs. selling and buying immediately when we move?
