Recently started my own firm and interested in others thoughts. Are there resources out there for practical advice or is it only something that comes with experience? For example, I can take let's say a 601A client and use the resources available to me to learn how to do it. But if a client asks me is it better to marry my fiance in her home country, bring her here on a K-1 or have her visit on a B-2, that's not learned from a book or webinar. How does one learn how to evaluate new cases?

Hi - I'm looking for a referral for a family member in the LA/Orange County. Relative is a permanent resident (has been for 10+ years) and looking to apply for citizenship. Relative had a juvenile record which was expunged ( I think it matters for citizenship). They had this record before they applied for their permanent residency. Now looking to an attorney with immigration & crim experience. Thank you!

How do you answer the question about yourself in i-944 where you can indicate "self" and it asks you if you live with said individual "self", and if this individual is filing for an immigration benefit with you or has in the past (again it's weird because you're talking about yourself.. ).

Is it possible to switch from consulting to ibanking with a STEM background while on H1B? Or does USCIS care that your education and background fits perfectly into the little description? Urgent question, if anyone knows the answer. I found out a petition I filed is being rejected due to incorrect filing fee, but I haven’t received the rejection package yet. Do I need to wait to receive the rejection notice to send everything back with it, or can I just refile a new petition asap? Really praying I can do the latter…

Representing a client pro bono in a defensive asylum case scheduled for a merits hearing this week. Government has agreed to dismiss and we have fully signed and filed a joint motion to dismiss. Looking for insight on business immigration firms in LA. I worked as a judicial clerk/staff attorney at the immigration court and occasionally handles decisions involving employment-based immigration, non immigrant visas, and waivers. I’d like to get into business immigration and eventually advice and counsel for employers, so I’m wondering whether I should be looking into full service firms with L&E and immigration. Thanks!

What are the advantages and disadvantages of working as an immigration attorney for a nonprofit?

I’m new to the immigration practice, and recently submitted an I-129 for 15 H-2B landscape workers. I knew the deadline would be close, but I convinced the client that we could take the chance. The cap count was reached after we submitted, so no approval. Is there any other avenue to bring over those workers or is he screwed?

What to do if a person has provided an employer with a fake social security card and is marrying a USC? Unauthorized work isn't a bar for immediate relatives, and they didn't present themselves as a USC for a benefit under the Act, so AOS as usual is my thinking. Am I right?
