I have different portfolios… that all serve a different purpose and goal, but for the purposes of this post… In my most aggressive portfolio…
I hold about 10% in crypto… bitcoin and ethereum…
Outside of that, I have some super aggressive 20-30+ year time horizon ETFs… focused on potential thematic disruptors in space exploration, quantum, genomic research and robotics… but they’re satellites of my core portfolio, with no more than 3-4% exposure.
I contribute in equal tranches weekly and I rebalance the portfolio annually… trim the winners and buy the losers…
I would just be careful about helping friends allocate their portfolios… everything is fine when things are going well… and we’ve been fortune to be in a bull cycle… but when things turn, and they’ve taken on more risk and exposure than they can stomach, the relationship could sour… they’ll blame you… and you’ll have to own it… so be prepared…
For me, it’s a 20-30 year time horizon… do I think that bioscience, DNA sequencing and therapeutics, especially customized therapeutics have tremendous upside? Yes… but it’s bite sized exposure… seeking some long-term alpha…
My thought for you, is that you’re down 70%… most people don’t make money when they lose 70%, sell, then chase 233% upside in the broader market… but, is there a world where you could see 300% upside on small cap disruptors? Maybe… but it depends if you’re willing to ride the wave and be a discipled investor, not an emotional one…
Personally, if I were in your shoes, I’d hold, or pick up more to lower your break even point… but I don’t know the ins and outs of your total portfolio…
I max my 401k and on top of that put $3k/mo into Vanguard, $1k/mo into BTC and another $500/mo into other crypto.
Bitcoin should be long term. People need to separate BTC from other crypto. They are not the same

Nope. I like productive assets. Crypto is just a drag on the economy and a gateway to grift.

Explain to me how Bitcoin is productive. Show me I'm wrong.
Where to buy crypto?
Coinbase is a good place to start. But you can also put your IRA funds into IBIT. Just remember Bitcoin is different than all other crypto. BTC is where you want your long term funds.

I hold private debt. Pays about 9%. Some is short term construction loans, some is 1-3 year loans to mid-size business.
