Book recommendation - "Ride of a lifetime" by Robert Iger. Story of someone who started as a studio operator and went on to become CEO of Walt Disney.

Really relatable to most of us here who are employees as opposed to entrepreneurs. Books on Steve Jobs, Elon Musk are all good but I loved Robert's story more as I could relate and aspire. How he takes tough decisions, his honesty, humility etc are all something which we can learn from. Go for it fishes 😄

I am searching for anyone who was like me 6 years ago; sitting in public accounting, while secretly working with my small book of clients on the side hoping to get the nerve to leave. I want to connect with accountants that are ready to make the transition from employee to entrepreneur.

If that’s you – we should chat! I would love to share my experience with you, so you can avoid some pretty common pitfalls I made.

I joined a new firm October 1 & billed a 200 hour month. With my current workload, I am expecting to meet or exceed my prorated hours target. When I accepted the position, future bonuses were discussed, but given ramp up, etc. I didn’t think to ask about a prorated bonus for my stump year. Has anyone dealt with this before? I hate to ask & sound greedy, but I relocated (at a pay cut) for this position & a bonus would really help going to my mortgage payments I’m still carrying for my old condo.

Have 2 offers need your thoughts on 1. NY based bank that is my current client, willing to convert me full time as a Sr BA. on-site role in NYC comp 20% more than other offer. However, not too exciting work and culture is pretty old school.
2. Deloitte SC (CBO) can be based out of anywhere, which I like (prefer moving to a lower COL city from NYC area). Have a 2yo so a bit worried how much travel the role would entail.
