Brand new LNHA here with the need to fill in 2-4 CNAs I. A town of 500 people with the closest big town being 35miles away with pay being higher in that city and corporate not budging on compensation for them. Anyone know or have any suggestions? I relocated form a big big city where finding people is difficult not because of the amount of applicants but because of the wave of them. Corporate is on me about OT hours but doesn’t want agency either which makes sense

Oof, I feel you. Small-town hiring is a whole different game. I’ve had luck tapping into local schools or churches, even offering referral bonuses to current staff. Also started highlighting flexibility and culture over pay in postings, sometimes that draws in good people

The main issue is they can start out making $3-$4 more at different facilities closer to where they live. Corporate won’t budge on anything and are even doing $4k budget cuts per department across the board. We can’t even order bare minimums for well being of the residents.

Are there any CNA programs nearby that you can connect with on providing info to or that you can pass along your contact or job postings to?

For me networking is key! I offer internship and connecting with the school program coordinators has been great with ensuring a steady flow. If you can connect with any coordinators of the programs maybe they can siphon some of their high performers to you !

I would also just put adds out like crazy! Indeed offers free postings, it will look like you have to pay but just hit skip and you can get through.

I’d also put the jobs adds up at other schools, grocery store poster boards, churches, ask friends to ask their friends if they know anyone. Maybe hospital nearby has somewhere you can post up an add on a board or maybe you can connect with some people there. I’d try to get to know some people at the hospital bc I’m sure word there travels fast!

Yes there are but there are closer facilities with higher pay they go to.
