Can "socio-economic" factors really make a robber shoot a 7-Eleven cashier when they have already surrendered all the store's money?

I think socio-economic factors is too broad. People hear that and basically assume it is wider society’s fault when really the damage is closer to home. On a related point, even if external factors have influenced behaviour, so what? If someone is dangerous they need to be in jail. Reducing their sentence just because their murderous behaviour was partly their dad’s fault does not make them less dangerous.

Back to these factors: Fatherlessess is very common amongst violent offenders (I believe the majority or a proportionately high % of violent men come from broken homes). They are also likely to come from a community that does not value education, does not prioritise the education of their children, does not encourage long-term goals but instead idolises short-term materialistic things, and possibly even puts value on drug dealers and other criminals as ‘high status’ activities.

None of the above necessarily is down to money. Many groups throughout history have been dirt poor and have not resorted to this. It’s about culture.

Drugs can, which are a product of social economic factors. When I was 20 at the beginning of COVID I was robbed with a machete by 2 guys. After I gave them the money 1 guy came at me with it and I just ran tf out of there lol.

Peace motivates punishment after the money has been taken? I don’t mean to be a problem but you lost me - please clarify.

Panic, Nerves, lack of empathy, lack of training on the weapon can trigger the weapon mistakenly or intentionally

Socio-economic factors can make the actor consider robbery as a viable option in their perceived options. Some people rob out of need others out of seeing it as an opportunity they have
