Finally watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It didn’t say anything that we didn’t already know about social media and big tech, but it’s still alarming and worth the watch. The biggest question I have after watching is why do people still romanticize FAANG? Is just purely the money and prestige? Are we selling our soul for a highly regarded exit opportunity? Just curious.
I feel like Facebook needs to be removed from “FAANG” status and replaced with Salesforce, SAANG, or some other arrangement of the letters. Does anyone else feel this way?
For non-faang companies like Wayfair, Walmart and workday, after initial hr and recruiter screen, how long did it take before communication on whether they are moving forward or not ? Been 2 days so not sure if I should follow up
What are some of the best non FAANG companies that we can target for program management or biz ops roles?
Which FAANG companies have non-tech PM roles?
How is Amazon Product Management approach compared to that at Dropbox, Facebook, and Google? For example, Amazon mainly focuses on doc writing, is it the same at other FAANG companies?
Can explain the Levels in FAANG companies? (e.g. L5, L6, L7) how do they correlate to consuming levels? what’s the minimum YOE for each?
Amazon low ball offer (L5): 105 base + 10k sign on + 80k stock (4 years) VS KPMG Manager offer: 165k + 10k sign on. Both are in Seattle. Should I go to FAANG for prestigious brand?
Why isn’t Microsoft included in FAANG? I feel like it should be in over Netflix, but FAAMG just doesn’t sound as cool.
Anyone else go to a really competitive high school / college? I get constant Facebook / LinkedIn updates from folks that went to my alma mater and everyone is doing super well (now doctors, lawyers, FAANG engineers) , and makes me wonder where I went wrong. I recognize that I'm doing better than 90% of the country working at KPMG, but sometimes I wonder what could've been had I worked a bit harder back in college. I know we're all on our own path, but do any of you deal - con’t
FAANG or PE Ops. I currently am in PE Ops consulting but have an offer from Amazon. Any ideas on what would provide more job security? Trying to decide if I should make a jump to FAANG
What’s generally standard among FAANG companies for offer acceptance once one is extended? If anyone has experience with this, is it one week or is it more flexible? I am trying to schedule final onsite with two companies and hoping I can get timing to line up (in the event I am fortunate enough to have offers).
Anyone willing to refer me to FAANG or tech consulting companies for an internship please. Computer/Information Science major with a focus on Human Interaction and UX design, user experience, and app design. Junior EY KPMG PwC Deloitte Accenture Amazon Microsoft Google Dell Facebook Paypal Infosys Cisco
How does the vesting usually work at Faang companies with shares? Let’s say you get 250k in equity that vests over 4 yrs, are you entitled to 1/4 of that after a year?
Is it too late to buy the FAANG stocks? Still feel that Amazon and Google are undervalued.
Does having gaps on your resume automatically take you out the running for FAANG companies..
Opinions on what happening with Facebook and their poor employee outlook? What will FAANG be if Facebook hits the fan? NAAG?
Do FAANG companies use head hunters? thoughts on using head hunting companies for entry into FAANG
pwc foreign Global Mobility offices (IAS) have apparently been asked to confirm if they will remain with pwc or be part of a sale of the GLOBAL MOBILITY practice (presumably the US one). Seems odd, to say the least. I feel for my fellow IAS colleagues (I’m sure the partners past and present may get a sweet bonus / retention payment … others 🤔??).
Worked 2 years entry role IT consultant at a big4 and 2 years another entry role strategy consultant at T2 cobsulting firm (ATK, LEK, S&), which level at MBB should I apply for? Again entry role?
Went to my second restaurant with a charge that stated "covid fee/to -go surcharge" that was 7.5%. As a reference, our food tax is 6.75%. Is anyone ok with this and why?
I know right now many people(especially in audit) are jumping ships from one PA firm to another! Please, please, make sure that you get the highest possible base salary and sign on bonus!!! Those firms don’t want you, they need you!!! So make sure to squeeze as much money as possible and remember that they won’t think twice to squeeze you as well as soon as you join them.
Isn’t the new Deloitte GPS comp model going to piss off high performers and make them leave and make low performers happy and encourage them to stay?
Me: I should really do something with all this spare bench time I have. Also me: let me check IG, fbook, fbowl, and challenge all my working friends to a mobile game for 8 hrs
Has anyone taken disability leave, and then used it to look for jobs? How does this work legally?
Started at a new firm a recently. I’m a little anxious about my growth opportunities. I’ve been working and billing like crazy, but the firm essentially charges insurance rates - but also are really conservative about billing and cut my hours a lot. It seems they’re really happy with my work. They’ve brought up the issue of my time and said I should be able to capture my time as long as I break the entries up more. But I think they’re still cutting it. I’m worried I won’t justify my pay goals..
Do you often have to relocate between client sites and other locations? Any tips on refocusing after you switch spots?
Need advice for resigning while on bench. I already have a start date with the new employer. Should I do a traditional two week notice or give <=1 week notice instead? My goal is to not burn bridges, but I also don’t want to get let go on the spot since I have nothing to “wrap up” besides HR tasks. I’ve read on here that sometimes they will let you go day of and pay you out for two weeks but I don’t see why any firm would do that for somebody not currently performing billable work...
Anyone fly united airlines recently?
I find that single male friends of friends are generally very eager when we first met or were introduced (through events, common friends’ parties). I got invited to their hangout bunch / house parties (pre-covid), but the moment we established i have no romantic interest and only friendships, they disappeared and we become barely acquaintance. I genuinely want to keep them in my life as friends. Why is this the case?
CSR now gives 10x for booking through the portal for hotels, but I’ve heard we won’t get Bonvoy points if we book through portal because it’s booked through 3rd party? Is that true? What about nights towards status?
Getting recruited for a cloud strategy manager role at Deloitte. Anybody else gone through the interview process with this group recently? Recruiter mentioned roughly 4 interviews but wasn’t sure whether they were all behavioral or there were some case.

How do you all think remote working is influencing gender dynamics in your teams? I wonder if/how relying on virtual comms with no in-person interactions will help or hurt things.
