I like a probation period from our side too. One of my colleagues came into a terrible manager situation and nope’d out of there in 60 days.
He had no problem getting another job because the hiring agency liked that he immediately knew it wasn’t a fit and didn’t hold it against him
As an aspiring creative, this says that my attitude towards hiring agencies is real. A pleasant shift from simply loading for ATS resumes into the system.
I think any company that does that is limiting themselves to mostly applicants who are already out of work. As many gripes as I have with my current role, it would be hard to leave for something where I’d start out on a probation period
I had this at an agency once. It was t said in any interviews but rather the paperwork I signed. The period came and went with no issue.
I’ve always felt that those clauses were to protect the employer from train wreck hires and were rarely implemented unless someone was an unmitigated disaster. I think I signed something like that when I was hired at an OHG agency. I also wished I had one for someone we hired but shouldn’t have at my last gig.
To add on that: what also seems common in these situations is that ppl just lose access to all systems out of nowhere followed by an email saying “we are terminating the contract within probation period so you don’t get any severance or nothing”. Not seems to be a performance issue just bad way to run business.

At least you have time to find a new job. I got thrown out in the cold out of nowhere when it happened to me.
It sucks tho.
