Sure, call it a marketing associate or something generic and put “digital marketing or copywriting experience preferred”.
PM, think of it like an outline. Try listing 5-7 or more core skills and projects the hire would need and be responsible for. Also add or determine if they will function in a managerial capacity (for ppl or projects or both). What tools are used? How proficient or familiar should they be w/said tools? Consider if your team prefers someone that requires little direction or not - this will help you narrow down whether an associate could work or someone more experienced. If you could share more details in the comments, I'm sure we can all put our heads together to help you iron it out.
More background, the department right now is a team of 5: senior marketing manager, content strategist (handles our social), graphic designer, and project manager. The old position was content creator but we realized that position didn’t really work out. Areas we need skills in: copywriting, landing page creation, general website maintenance, strategy/campaign creation, lead generation. There’s more, I’m drawing a blank right now (Friday). A lot of stuff I think our senior marketing manager should fulfill but I don’t think our senior marketing wants to actually do the task doing if that makes sense.
Sounds like you’re looking for me haha, there are a lot of digital marketers with a strong writing background as many of us started out on the writing side (I had a journalism degree and my early jobs focused more on copy / content) and then moved to a digital focus as the world changed. Id focus on the tech-specific aspects you’re looking for but there will be people like me out there that have a writing background and moved into roles focusing on different digital marketing paths (marketing automation, SEO, web content, social, etc).
Yes, we have! We've had a lot of success with general marketing positions in the past. In your case, it might be helpful to list out all of the specific skills and duties that you're looking for in your ideal candidate. This will help potential applicants know if they're a good fit or not.
There have been many postings for general marketing positions in our company. This position requires a very diverse skill set, which means that your company might need to be more specific about the skills that you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for someone with experience in social media marketing, then list that as one of the qualifications.
Yes, it has happened many times in our company. For example, if you're looking for a Graphic Designer, Digital Marketer, Social Media Manager, or even just an entry-level Marketing Assistant, then posting a general marketing position can be a great way to find the right candidate for your specific needs.
Is this role remote? If so, I’m interested!
