1) Know who you will report to and who that person will report to. My personal experience was not good in that I had an official person I reported but he was half my manager, and another half was someone that didn’t want to hire me. There was also internal politics on who they would provide my EOY review to.
2) Make sure your manager is in person if the role is not remote. If you’re not coming in at a VP level, it’s hard to build a presence. Having your manager there helps build relationships, know what’s going on, and fosters a team environment.
3) See if the company allows trading. My form is strict and I can only trade ETFs with prior permission and crypto without permission
4) Ask if they’ll hire analysts under you or will this be associate and manager (2 man team) only.
5) will you have to submit time sheets weekly for work against port co?
6) split between value creation and due diligence
Will add more as I think of them, but feel free to ask
Can you also talk a little bit about the lifestyle compared to consulting? TY!
I think it’s a similar lifestyle. There’s ebbs and flows of work where some weeks are slow while others are packed and busy. Averaging about 40-60 hours of work.
How does your compensation compare to consulting? What region are you based in ?
North east, my base is slightly higher, but bonus is much bigger. Bonus is dependent on company performance, and our performance was not good. My bonus has been the same since I’ve joined.
In addition to that my company pays for mine and my dependents health insurance, dental, and life insurance, but there is no 401k match. We get 25 days of pto every Jan 1st.
At what consulting level did you make a switch? And what level did you get in at PE?
Manager/Project Leader -> Sr. A
What was your interview experience like? Are cases similar to MBB?
Yeah they are somewhat similar. Take home case.
