Cheapest bids win because they feel safe. They fit budgets, timelines, and internal expectations. But low price rarely reflects low risk. It often reflects aggressive assumptions, minimal buffers, and optimistic planning. The cost shows up later through delays, scope reductions, or quality issues. Strong procurement looks beyond price and asks a harder question: what will this really cost over three to five years, not just during implementation?

So, recently got put on a PIP after six months at my new job., two days after I told my boss and HR I recently learned I have a cognitive disability caused by an illness. The PIP was mostly because I forgot some deadlines, but also they said I need to be more professional in emails (even though others use zero punctuation and a lot of emojis. To clients.) and simultaneously ask more questions and ask fewer questions. Should I just assume this is unattainable and look for a new job again?

I’m an introvert in strategy consulting, working in US, born in India. I find it difficult to host client meetings - how to drive conversation, fill in the pauses, and help drive the group move towards next steps consensus. It’s not that I don’t know how, it’s that I doubt myself, and my language skills. I see some other SC/Ms just repeating what others said, and just talking too much of what’s already known - and they are appreciated. How do I reach a stage where I am able to do this better?
