Client's feedback on a project was completely tone-deaf and borderline offensive. Do I defend my team's work, or bite my tongue for the sake of keeping the contract?

Honestly it depends on the feedback. Also is this something you could get some support on from account/brand partners?

It's really hard to say what the right move is here without knowing all the details. Could you even afford to lose the contract? What would be the consequences for you and your team if that were to happen? Some clients are insufferable to deal with, but that doens't mean you can't get through it for the sake of everyone else. Can you try to stay professional and ask for more actionable/specific feedback?

I’d let my account person deal with this mostly cus clients already think creatives are over sensitive babies, plus I’d rather be enjoying a pint with the team shit talking the client while someone else does the dirty work.

smart

We defend the truth. Or whatever is closer to the truth. Be as objective as possible. And, if in the end it is the team that is wrong. Be honest with them. If being honest with your client that they are wrong and that is the reason you lose the contract, there are probably bigger issues that need sorting.

ugh I guess it does depend on the feedback - sometimes it's valid, other times it just feels mean spirited and personal. Does the team agree on the feedback? IF yes, hold your tongue but if not...you can push bacck (gently)

offensive how?

So, I just joined a startup. No processes, no clear strategy, just one goal: selling. Getting leads. When ever I try to build a strategy, they (founders) swamp me with blablabla stories and not a single action plan. Is this the usual at startups? Also,no real company culture. At all. No HR. I am reaaaally struggling to get a sense of belonging here. What should I expect?? Tia
