Hey remember the Metaverse?
I get what you’re saying but here’s the thing. Every time I see a social schedule 80% are Meta channels. So no matter what people like to think, they still have the lion share dependent on client demographics.

Echoing what publicis 2 said- what keeps the lights on at agencies? Social, digital, other garbage work we all just tolerate and shit out to work on things we want to work on
Without that work, it doesn’t matter how brilliant you are, you won’t have a place to do that work because those other jobs are basically subsidizing amazing creative

On balance, Mark Zuckerberg has truly brought negative value to society. It’s truly unfortunate for all of us that such a powerful technology is being directed by someone with no ethics or humanity.

I’ve watched meta bounce back and forth all over the place in my account trying to tell our clients what works and what doesn’t. They contradict themselves constantly because every rule they write proves to be wrong straight off, so they say do the opposite. Fact is, the platform is not great for interruptive advertising so what many think is good creative will fail. And stuff that follows what meta tells you to do will only work for a small amount of eyes.

Stuff like this has made me depressed since 2023. Hence I've left the agency world and will be moving onto government. At this point, I'll trust totalitarian communist China over anything these soulless Silicon Valley tech bros spit out. Thank God I'm in Southeast Asia where China will very likely be a bigger influence on how life works vis-a-vis America.
Any which way, the advertising industry will in future probably employ far, far fewer people. With margins on average being as razor thin as they are now, agencies won’t even put up a fight to keep people in the mix. They’re practically incentivized to dump hordes of staff.
No one outside advertising cares if you feel that your ads have a certain je ne sais quoi that AI-produced ads don’t have. The metrics (fake or not) will show that you are irrelevant and your jobs will be gone.
