Looking into bringing PM into Engineering projects instead of each engineer running their own projects any advise on how to make the transition?

Look into matrix organization structures since this is pretty much what PMs do. Maybe also read some case studies on the benefits and drawbacks of project management. Also if your projects are small be cautious of the inverse pyramid that happens when you add a bunch of people to manage engineers.

When you say make the transition, are you implying that the Engineers will not like this and push back on the idea?

I’m working in a large fund; market neutral public market strategy funds; am about to be recommended for a promotion to associate. However, an analyst position just opened up internally in Credit, which is where I aspire to be for the next ten years. More growth and more intellectual challenge. I’m conflicted about applying for a lateral transfer and losing out on a promotion. Will I be missing out a promotion or should I negotiate a promotion as part of my application to this role ?

I was alone and confused. I have never really got the chance to prove myself which makes me all the more depressed. I'm not sure what to do with my future, indecisive and low on confidence.

Hey guys, question regarding new years resolutions. Anyone know some good books about how to lead better and step up to become a great CD?

I have an associate's degree in graphic design and work designing wedding stationery. I've been at my company since 2016, and am now a design consultant - speaking to customers directly and creating custom artwork and designs for them. I know I'm underpaid (50k/year in the SF Bay Area) but I thought the benefits and stability were worth it. I'm now severely burnt out (most of my team is) and not sure which way to go, or how to grow. Any tips/advice?

Thanks!

i don't know y i was not selected, and i think its still worth it to reach out. 1 because i think i did well in the interviews and 2 its saves both of us time - to know if i should pursue further or not. Thoughts?
