I learned when I was like 7, my mom forced me one summer (thank you mom haha). She got me a special computer program to teach me how. I’m sure the equivalent exists now in online tutorials somewhere.
Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing!!!
Chief
I hunt and peck at an OK pace
Yeesh
Yeah learned in middle school (Mavis Beacon what up) i dont really know any other way to do it now
Yes, do it. Take two weeks and burn it into your muscle memory. Will save you thousands of hours for the rest of your life.
Oh wow! I was born in 91 and this was part of regular elementary school curriculum. Didn’t even know there was a term for it, thought everyone did it

Check out Mario teaches typing it’ll get you up to speed
Yes!!! Oh, the time spent with this as a kid…
I learned with a typewriter
I learned in school but I can’t spell so it doesn’t really matter.
No
What does that mean
It's just practice, you'll get there OP
Not gonna lie, AOL made me a proficient typer. Multiple chats at a time.
Yup. AIM was my typing teacher. 🤣 People still comment on how fast I type and I never look down. Never had more than a class or two on “proper” finger placement. Doesn’t really matter if you’re typing efficiently for yourself, imo.

Yes I learned in high school. One of the best skills ever. Makes me more productive. Just faster than people who don’t
There’s also games to help learn
Does this mean that some people have to look at their keyboard to type??
I also learned in middle school - but now you all have me wondering if they still teach it in schools? They must right? Everything is online it feels like. I have an 8 yo and I’m feeling like I should get something to help her learn and eventually my youngest as well.
Good call, I’d definitely check if the kids are being taught that!
I learned in high school back in like 91. On a day to day basis, it is one of the most useful things that I have learned. I think I also learned on a typewriter. I sometimes have trouble with numbers and special figures. It used to be a thing where you had to take a typing test. The number pad, is also a game changer.

I'd say touch typing is simply that, typing by touch. The finger assignments are there to help teach touch type but not the end in itself. I won't get too caught up with perfect finger assignments if you're typing well enough.
I love touch typing as a writer, especially when I'm in the zone. It's a small mundane thing that gives me great pleasure when I work. I type on a custom mechanical keyboard that's tactile and sounds great, I totally nerd out on it. I go through periods when I do typing tests for fun online 🤣

I have a BMEK (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=108511.0) with black inks I think, and MT3 Extended 2048 caps (the Mac inspired ones). Thick and chonky. My end game. I've stopped looking. ❤️😋
No I mind-type
