I have expressed my disdain with using excerpts to teach literary skills. My students often have questions in reference to the background of the text.

Totally makes sense! I wonder if there should be a distinction between using the strategy I. Grade levels. As a high school teacher, I think excerpts are key to my instruction. But I also expect that my students have read full length texts in elementary school. But when they haven’t, I face a super uphill battle with reading any length of text. Thank you for clarifying !

As an English Special education teacher, I have found that the students care more if we read the text in its entirety. The students need to experience novels and form relationships with the character

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

I have high school children of my own, but disciplining high schoolers has always intimidated me for some reason. I have excellent classroom management, but I feel like high schoolers are a little smarter ab getting around rules and less worried about consequences.

I’m told by an hs tchr that the grading load is ab the same.

I got an email last night from a 7th-grade parent because her son said I mentioned the words "male privilege" in class, and she is very concerned about how that is related to ELA (she said "reading"), and she is concerned about this being taught in public schools. To be clear, I didn't do a lesson on this subject but we did discuss rights versus privileges. I've had multiple parents contact the school/get upset with me because of things like his. It's exhausting... Thoughts?
