Also when you say Creative Management, you mean the CCO, ECD and GCDs right?
Or are you taking the creative resource manager? Because that can really suck
Yeah bad creative leadership is a killer. It’s a gamble to move but of the CDs stickiness is a known commodity it might be worth a jump.
Keep in mind too, industry-wide clients are reigning things in. The CDs might just be trying to stay busy and employed. Their jobs are at risk in an world where the clients are bringing work in-house or just hiring vendors themselves.
What sucks about CM?
The CDs
What about your CDs suck? Just curious. You seem to like the agency, maybe even the work (since you said the clients are great), so can you elaborate?
They don't care about my performance, interests, or needs for career growth. They have poor communication styles and barely ever talk to me or act upfront with me. When I do go out of my way to communicate my needs to them, I am given lip service but then see the same problematic scenarios continue (lack of communication on their end, and still no signs of them giving a shit about me). I can't trust that they genuinely listen and support me, and feel like I have to look out after myself. All of this makes me want to switch agencies, but I worry that this is best case scenario for me since all the other aspects here are good and there are much shittier places everywhere else.
Also, I work in LA and want to stay in a big city, but it feels like shitty workplaces here are such a normal standard that I'm not sure if switching agencies would truly improve at all.
Are there any cds you’ve worked with at prior jobs that you liked? You could reach out to them. They might be able to tune you in to new jobs that have better cds. Or, since they know you, they might be able to give you advice that takes you and your unique strengths into consideration. Wouldn’t hurt to try.
