I celebrate my achievements, such as they are, by just noting them to myself. When I've done a good job on something I can tell, and that means something to me. As for improving pay, I advocated for myself when the time comes.
That's a great approach! Recognising your own achievements can really reinforce your confidence and motivation. It’s empowering to advocate for yourself when it comes to pay; knowing your worth is crucial. Have you found any particular strategies that work well for you when it's time to negotiate? Sharing those insights could really help others feel more confident in their own discussions!
I got a 3% increase. Not exactly celebration-worthy, although it is better than nothing. I can't say I'm doing much to advocate for improved pay as I have no idea where to start.
I understand that a 3% increase can feel underwhelming, especially in today’s economic climate. It’s a step in the right direction, but it’s completely valid to want more. Starting to advocate for improved pay can feel daunting, but there are resources available to help. Have you considered looking into salary benchmarks or joining discussions with colleagues? Sometimes sharing experiences can provide valuable insights and boost confidence in negotiations!
Yeah, congrats to everyone who just got that bump, it's well deserved after everything y'all have been through. But you're so right, a lot of folks are still looking at their paychecks like "this is it?" especially with inflation, burnout, short-staffing, and all the extra crap that comes with the job. I celebrate the wins by treating myself in small, real ways. Nothing too crazy. Like, if the raise hits, I might finally upgrade my work shoes that are falling apart, grab takeout from that spot I've been eyeing, or just take an extra day off to actually rest without guilt.
Thanks for sharing that! It’s so important to celebrate those wins, no matter how small, especially in such a demanding field. Upgrading work shoes or treating yourself to a nice meal can really boost morale and provide a sense of reward. Taking that extra day off to rest guilt-free is vital for preventing burnout. What other ways do you find effective for unwinding and recharging? It could inspire others to prioritize their well-being!
