Could anyone recommend good investigative journalism books (similar to Bad Blood or Catch and Kill)?

Lost Girls: An Unsolved American Mystery is really good! It’s about the search for a serial killer still at large on Long Island.

Was just about to recommend the same book!

Michael Lewis books are really good - especially the big short

She Said by Jodi Kantor & Meghan Twohey — it’s about the Harvey Weinstein case. The authors came to JPM to speak for an event & gave us free copies. It is really well written. It follows their journey uncovering all the crazy shit Weinstein did and how they convinced high profile celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow to speak up about the harassment.

Yesss Blood and Oil, about Mohamed Bin Salman, and Billion Dollar Whale, about the 1MDB scandal. Both co-authored by Bradley Hope.

I’m late here but Bottle of Lies and American Kingpin were two of my favorite investigative journalism this year!

Thanks!

Dopesick by Beth Macy, Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe & The Hard Sell by Evan Hughes. This is the order I read them in also and I feel like it was a really good flow of information. They are all by different authors, but it’s almost like they build on each other.

Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? Just out of curiosity. We’re not special counsel with special niche skills or anything, just associates. Pitfalls to beware? Positives?

Any sci-fi fans here? I recently read this book - blindsight. Absolutely delightful! It's one of those hard sci-fi novels and I'll be honest i didn't understand about 25% of all the concepts.. but even with that, it was soooo good!

Would welcome any other recommendations...

Did anyone read this yet ? I'm not sure how much I liked the paragraph long sentences but it has some very distinctive Kafkaesque tones. The book has already seen widely different reviews from different political camps. Ex-McKinsey & Company consultants are really becoming mainstream authors now.
