American Express Hi Fishers, I'm working at FIS and my client is American express. We were not given a holiday on diwali nor on Guru purab. But people working in Amex were on leave. Why is it so?
I just want to say thank you to this bowl for all of the good book recommendations - I’m reading ‘women who love too much’ and I feel like I just got woke
Does anyone have any nightmare stories about switching over to unlimited pto? I’ve only seen 1-2 cases of it not working out for people on here. Wondering if I’m overthinking skipping companies that offer it.

Any good book recommendations for new managers?
Any book recos? I tend to like true crime or thrillers.. something to keep me turning the page. Currently reading Devil in the White City and loving it.
For a data engineer with offer from epam, impetus and apisero, which would you prefer?
Apisero being 3lpa higher.
What's the work culture like? How is it like taking a leave? Or a 7 day vacation? Do they let you take it most of the times?
I had a first round interview, and they contacted me that day to ask for a second. I now had the second on 11/22 and haven’t heard anything since. I figured with the holiday it would take longer, but do we think this is a good sign or bad?
I’m a stub year associate that has gotten very very slow (~1-4 billable hours a day). I’ve been doing some pro bono here and there. I’m staffed on a couple deals looking to sign in January but nothing with year-end/Christmas deadlines. Stay quiet or reach out for work? Would prefer not to have my holiday blown up, but also don’t want to give off the impression that I’m actively dodging work.
Hi! I need some help negotiating a raise. I have been working for this company for exactly 3 months now, but I was hired as an AGM. I'm not specific on what my responsibilities are as AGM.
However the GM at the time, quit 1 and a half months in. I was thrown into the role and have been handling it since.
My regional calls himself our GM but is never on site.
Was reluctant to cover my shifts when I became sick and requested time off for a few days. (4 days)
Hi! I’m looking for non-fiction book recommendations. Memoirs, self-help, business... anything really 🤗 TIA!
Is anyone else hoping for an insane blizzard to hit mid-next week so they have an excuse not to drive downstate to spend Thanksgiving with their extended family? Some of my family's FB posts since last week's elections tell me it's going to be a long holiday weekend.
Analyst here, we get 18 days PTO right?
Customer Success Account Managers at AWS…. Is it worth it? Salary? Benefits? PTO? But most importantly… how much do you actually work? I have been hitting quota and usually work 4-5 hours/day, sometimes more if it’s busy. Know I’m at the “take a leap to get a raise” phase but don’t want to take the leap of it means I lose my balance between work and home.
My husband and I decided to take a week vacation around Memorial Day with our daughter. We thought it would be nice to do some outside things that are safe to do each day even if it’s just spending most of the day in our backyard. That’s not the point - the point is I went to my SM and told her that I would like this week off and she came back with well it’s around a holiday so you might have to be flexible as in being around for emergencies and consistently checking your emails since others
Anyone has a good book reco on introverts?
Looking to take on some side freelance copy work but have no idea how to get started. Any pointers or tips from vets? Any help appreciated!

Can anyone share how the physical on boarding day goes? Is it just documents submission and verification? Or will there be anything else? And how long is the day? Do we have to stay in office 9-6 that day?
I have offer from Apisero and recently also got higher offer from other company. Will Apisero match the offer I am having from other company? And if I ask to negotiate based on counter offer would Apisero decline the offer I already have in hand?
Recently left a stable f500 for tech and have seen my RSU’s go down ~60% in the past 3 months. Worth looking to jump ship to get in somewhere else at the bottom? I’m in strategy/ biz ops/ data science+analytics.
I have tons of mushrooms, what should I cook?
Looking at buying a CPO 2017 Porsche Macan S. CPO Porsches have a 2 year unlimited milage warranty. I have the option to buy an additional year.
The statistician in me says that it will never be worth the warranty but I am pretty risk averse.
Don’t ask me why I have trust issues 😑.
What are your thoughts on domestic family air travel this summer? Planning to fly to Naples, FL for two weeks in July to stay at a family member’s empty second home. There is a pool that the kids can swim in everyday, which we think is so needed. I’m conflicted bc on one hand I think airlines are being very good about enforcing rules so people feel comfortable flying, and I also want some fun for the kids before the fall comes and we potentially go back into a quarantine situation. Any queer women in NYC? I’m coming in a couple of weeks and would love to meet some new people!

What’s everyone reading this weekend?
Hi! I recently read Their Eyes Were Watching God and was stunned and the poetic and beautiful creations of Zoe’s Neale Hurston. Would love to discuss with anyone!
I read a lot of everything. Just joining. Just discovered Les Croart. I may have misspelled.
I've read so much during the pandemic - I'm mostly an SFF reader but have also got into some other genres including litfic, memoir and some nonfic (econ, history).
I'm reading The City We Became by NK Jemisin right now and I'm enjoying it a ton.
Did anyone read this yet ? I'm not sure how much I liked the paragraph long sentences but it has some very distinctive Kafkaesque tones. The book has already seen widely different reviews from different political camps. Ex-McKinsey & Company consultants are really becoming mainstream authors now.
Any sci-fi fans here? I recently read this book - blindsight. Absolutely delightful! It's one of those hard sci-fi novels and I'll be honest i didn't understand about 25% of all the concepts.. but even with that, it was soooo good!
Would welcome any other recommendations...

I'd heard a lot about Evelyn Waugh as a wickedly funny author much in the vein of a Wilde and Wodehouse. Though I didn't find him as ingenious as Wodehouse but his plots were quite engaging. A nice read !!
Hey guys, I wrote a book! https://a.co/d/9khPkWR Before you start your business, before you spend a dime on marketing or hire another brand strategist, you need to consider something: You don’t have a brand.
Everyone from aspiring entrepreneurs to seasoned business titans believes in the power of branding. But the truth is, most businesses, nonprofits, charities, and social movements aren’t brands. They are tattoos. Preorder for more! Would love your reviews on Amazon and happy to discuss anytime!
Could anyone recommend good investigative journalism books (similar to Bad Blood or Catch and Kill)?
This is a bit different than what people have posted but this is the book that I can’t wait to read. I’m always looking for ways to improve my sleep, I know I’ll never be an eight hour a night person but I am well over seven hours and it has made a world of difference in my health!
Usual Cruelty by civil rights attorney Alec Karakatsanis -- a book about how lawyers choose and perpetuate injustice. If anyone wants to read and discuss please comment below!
Suggest Anxious People! It was a light, funny read, but still sentimental at times
Just looked it up and it seems like a great read! Thanks for the tip 👍🏽
Ohh been meaning to check this book out. I recommend Leave the World Behind, Magic Hour, and The Great Alone.
The Great Alone by Kristen Hannah- This one was a bit more serious but wonderfully told
Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson- This one is humorous and cute and strange and just a happy light read
People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry- Super cute book, very light read
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid- Amazing storyline, characters, loved everything about this book!
