I feel your pain. I'm in a similar position, with looking to step back and take a little less responsibility. All the jobs I've applied for I haven't heard back from. When I do get interviews they seem to not understand why i would want to take a step back. They say your over qualified and I'd get bored. Makes it hard.
I wish you luck and maybe 1 of the comments about changing your CV is a good idea.
I really disliked being turned away with the "your over qualified" excuse, as if I didn't need a job which is why I'm applying in the first place. Being over qualified is a bonus for them in my book.
When you are searching for a job and no one wants to hire you and your need income, you go backwards
I honestly would see if changing your last job titles help - instead of operations supervisor, say office manager, or corporate project manager, accounts payable coordinator, something that is still true to a portion of what you did, but more applicable to the receptionist role.
I’m in a similar situation. I left my previous job in a high pressure customer service role in a call center. I’m looking for the same thing. I want to take a front desk reception position, which I’m clearly qualified for just less stress than working in a call center and in addition to that my title was a senior customer service solutions specialist, I interviewed for a receptionist position. I thought the interview went well. I got a good feeling from the person that was interviewing me. She made a positive acknowledgment with my answering of questions. Unfortunately, I never heard back and other receptionist positions I’ve applied for I’ve never heard back from some of them or I was told they went with someone else good luck to everyone looking for a job
In the same boat. I had to redo my resume so it is more customer service focused, fingers are crossed that it gets me into the door at a desk. I used ai for the rewrite.
Why do you want to take a step back?
I’m in the exact same position and am drowning. Nothing heard back from in 6 months. Not sure how I’m supposed to live.
Why can’t they just say that. I’m guessing you’re getting interviews. Just focus on your why & attach a CV tiny explanation as well.
