McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

It depends. If you're talking about living 75 miles from the office, then it's possible the office you were told about is just the closest to where you live. If it's clear across the country, then it might just be an administrative mistake.
It can be relevant, though. If you live in New York and are getting an offer for, say, Minneapolis or something, you might want to get aligned to New York since the pay scale might be better for NYC.
Either way, it shouldn't be a big issue unless you are joining a talent model that is mainly in office and not client facing.
That was my thought as well, just hoping that I can negotiate here and not set myself up for failure. Thank you for the insight! I would hate to miss out on the opportunity.
It is what it is. Either they are ok with it or not. Ask, and be ready to move on. I think you’ll find out quickly how much they want you…
True enough! Thank you!

Wait you were expecting the firm to pay for travel to a home office in a different city? That's odd.
No worries D1. The requirement of relocating to be within 50 miles of the home office was not explicitly discussed. I mentioned I would like to be aligned to an office and can travel there on my dime when necessary 🙁
Was your offer for a PDM position by chance?
Probably a lot of questions to understand this.
Did they ask you to relocate?
Are then trying to align you to a specific practice which ties to an office?
Is this a USDC or PDM role?
The only thing your home office matters for in Core Consulting is to calculate your "travel" distance to your home office. Your taxed where you work so that doesn't matter. TBH ask the question to your recruiter, what the expectation is.
