Currently feeling zero drive to keep pushing in a career and would rather focus on hobbies/side sources of income. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations to regain an urge to get back into the grind or am I doing the right thing in settling down a bit? Appreciate anything, thanks!

Appreciate it.

I’ve got 2 side projects, on top of consulting and small kids. Extra time is hard to come by but as soon as I set a plan for >1hr/week on each project, I found myself hitting that goal during kids weekend nap time, which then grew to after bedtime project time, when I used to decompress with TV or scrolling. One thing that helped a lot was a dedicated notes page for each idea to capture thoughts during the day and then jumpstart project time once I got to it (for me, the notes created intrinsic motivation to get them off my phone and into my business plans.)

Start small and manageable, build from there.

Thank you so much!

I had a little bit of a side hustle going after Covid that was very rewarding in the sense of being to manage my own business. Often found myself wanting to spend more time focused on that and was carving out time early in the mornings and late at nights. Unfortunately I got pulled into another project at work that forced me to give up that time.

Does anyone in this group have ADHD? Are you finding that working in a law firm setting and billing hours is just not something they can do or is it possible with the proper medication and therapy?

I don’t cut my hours, I consistently reach 7 hours a day, but it’s not enough to meet my firm’s minimum requirement. I’m usually working 9 hours/day.

I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Are you traveling during the pandemic or have client interactions been virtual? Lastly, if you are a consultant here, are you on billable hours? My current consulting role is not - so this would be new.

Interviewer asked what my current salary / bonus is and I told them.

I got the offer and it’s exactly the same base/bonus as my current role. (Though they’ll also give me so stock options in the private company).

Can you share what is reasonable % increase to get for salary / bonus when switching jobs? I know the team really likes me.
