Currently in biglaw, but looking to pivot into Tax. Would doing a Tax LLM be a way to get there (at NYU or Georgetown)? I always liked my tax classes in law school and I got stuck in an area of law I dislike.

Ask to pick up some work in your office before you spend 60k. Some big4 offices will hire you with only a little bit of tax knowledge as well.

Big 4 is a major step down. Like wildly so.

Yes, do an NYU or Georgetown Tax LLM (you can do it part-time/remote). Pick up some tax work while doing it, if possible. Then after you get the LLM, ask to switch at your firm or you can lateral to another firm with a Tax LLM and some tax experience.

I pivoted by getting my LLM in Tax more than 25 years ago. (I attended part-time at Boston University School of Law…which was designed for working attorneys.) It proved to be a great profession and personal decisions and I actually love tax law. I’ve been a trusts and estates attorney ever since.

Lyft driver delayed picking me up 30 min, resulting in me canceling my ride and asking hotel to call me a “yellow taxi” to get to the airport because it was 5am and all ubers/lyfts were 15 min. Specifically said yellow. Hotel calls me a private lux SUV and the driver got out of the car to handshake the man who called and said hi (honestly money couldve been passed). I then get hit with a $180 ride. Marriott website says taxi should be $65. Should I complain or let it go?

Second year associate here who recently switched from litigation to corporate law. I am absolutely swamped while simultaneously having no idea what I’m doing ever and I’m feeling so burnt out. The partners are pretty great and feedback is constructive which I’m grateful for, but I’m so desperate for a compliment I’ve been saving any scrap of positivity in a folder 😭 it’s December 22 and I haven’t done my Christmas shopping because I don’t feel capable of thinking about it. I need a hug.
