Ask to pick up some work in your office before you spend 60k. Some big4 offices will hire you with only a little bit of tax knowledge as well.
Big 4 is a major step down. Like wildly so.
Yes, do an NYU or Georgetown Tax LLM (you can do it part-time/remote). Pick up some tax work while doing it, if possible. Then after you get the LLM, ask to switch at your firm or you can lateral to another firm with a Tax LLM and some tax experience.

I pivoted by getting my LLM in Tax more than 25 years ago. (I attended part-time at Boston University School of Law…which was designed for working attorneys.) It proved to be a great profession and personal decisions and I actually love tax law. I’ve been a trusts and estates attorney ever since.
