No, not officially, but it's unspoken and sort of agreed-upon that we will try and avoid Friday meetings, except for our daily standup. If someone puts a friday meeting in, I don't lose sleep, but I also don't like it lol.
My current company and last company all implemented “no meeting Fridays” they lasted about a week. Depending on your department or job function, that just will never work or last.
Meanwhile, in the grown up world they have a Friday afternoon meeting to hash out performance management
Yes, we have a no-meeting Friday and it’s the best. Having a no surprise or last minute meeting solid day is nice. Plus we all know that it’s a good catch up day if needed and a good way to start the weekend too! Would be quite an adjustment to not have it now.
We have one meeting on Fridays, and we try to limit it to just that. It's just better for all of us involved to kind of ease the burden of the day. It creates a better dynamic in the morale around work when everyone gets a breather on Friday.
I've worked at companies who had no meeting fridays in the past and i loved it. It takes so much pressure off the end of the week. We don't do it at my current company in an official capacity, but it seems like people are pretty reticent to schedule stuff on fridays for the most part.
Our 500+ person org has been doing it for the last ~18 months. It holds pretty true for most ICs and frontline managers, but not so much for those of us in higher-level leadership positions. Although I rarely have meetings after 2 on Fridays, and it’s also the only day of the week where I don’t have at least 8 hours of meetings, so that’s something.
My team at Amazon tried, but in practice it meant having 2-3 meetings on Fridays vs 5-8 the rest of the week. Still an improvement.
My team at SFCC doesn’t have a policy that I’m aware of, but does try to avoid Friday meetings if possible, and is reasonably successful at it.
