Yep, same boat here. I think as teachers, we need to adapt our strategies and do our best to encourage originality and creativity. What I've been doing is incorporating more in-class writing exercises, discussions, or projects that require personal reflection and deeper analysis, making it harder for students to rely on AI and as a result, still be forced to use their God-given talents!
This is a great point
All this proves is that the assignments you are providing and how you measure their output are flawed.
What changes are you proposing?
completely understand your frustration, and I share your concerns as an educator. The rise of AI tools has indeed created challenges in maintaining academic integrity and encouraging genuine critical thinking among students.
Agreed
If you let them use AI to explore topics, and then when they are in class, discuss the topics with them, and what they learned as they were digging in and using the AI to explore the topics, then they would be required to use their brains while using AI and while discussing in class. Sort of a Socratic method in teaching and learning. Doing that would incorporate both AI use and own-brainpower at the same time.
It's a fine line to ensure that they don't let AI completely do the thinking for them
Wow I feel your pain, I can only imagine how much harder it is to do your job
