Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I haven't heard anything to that effect. If anything, I've been hearing that things have slowed down and it's as if companies are doing quiet hiring freezes. The official jobs numbers aren't terrible, but they're essentially propped up by government hiring, which is generally in the education field. I suppose things will pick up sooner or later, so perhaps it's starting in some areas, but I haven't seen evidence of that.
Depends on your age.

How so? Better for older candidates or young?
I think it's gotten better.
The June job report says it’s getting better 🤷🤷♀️🤷♂️
Just because companies add jobs doesn’t mean they’re actually hiring

I personally don’t think so
I don’t feel it has, I have been unemployed for about 2months now and it seems as if places are posting positions and then you of course get the automated email “thank you for applying” then straight silence. Today I called a place I applied for (back in the day that meant a lot) and the woman that answered the phone laughed and said she appreciated my want for the job but there was no one to check in with, I just had to wait till someone called. It would be nice to just at least hear back, even if it is a no.
