Do y'all take the time to tailor each resume before applying to a job or do you use the same resume over and over again? I just have the one resume myself.

Use the same

Most of the time I'm just submitting the same one. If it's a job I really want, I'll go to the hassle of having Chat GPT help me tailor it.

I use the same one over and over again. I can see where you could tailor it, but at the end of the day, I will still have the same info on it that I did when I didn't tailor. They only changes I have made is that I typically only show the last 5 years/ two jobs of work history regardless so I don't feel the needs to tailor too much.

I have a core resume I use most of the time. There have been instances where I've done some light editing which seemed like a good idea at the time. My core cover letter gets more changes, of course, but that's where you're expecting to highlight specific things, and they can change depending on the company I'm applying to.

I use a different one, depending on what type of role I'm going for. The bulk of it stays the same, I might just highlight certain things or create different categories.

I'm in the middle of a background check with Deloitte for a Project Delivery role. In the background check application I listed my previous employers - Cognizant/Teksystems etc but my resume only had the client names I worked at . Does this pose a problem if Deloitte HR compares my resume to the background check form ? Also my title within cognizant might have been an associate but my resume mentions the designation for the client. Is this a reason for concern? Will they ask me to justify it ?

Just venting. College friend (same ethnicity but came to US with family as a kid) told me she might get a new job offer w a smaller firm, 50% pay bump. We currently work at comparable big firms but her pay is already higher than mine (hers include stocks, mine doesn’t). We did equally well in college & I know I’m just as smart. Can’t help but feel like my career’d have been much better if I did not need sponsorship. Smaller firms don’t sponsor so I work at a big firm but pay isn’t great 🙄
