Do you ever get that gut-punch feeling like everyone else is racing ahead in life while you’re still trying to find your lane? I swear, sometimes I look around at friends buying houses, having kids, or climbing the career ladder while I’m just over here celebrating that I actually remembered to water my plants. It’s funny but also kind of real. I have to remind myself we’re all on different timelines. Do you ever get that feeling too, and how do you laugh it off?

I'm in my mid-30s and think about this all the time. All of my friends have mortgages and kids and they are starting massively successful businesses, and I'm over here just trying to match socks most days. But at the same time, I also have other accomplishments, like I just got married, I finished my master's degree less than a year ago, and I just paid off my car. Success doesn't look the same to everybody and if we only dwell on what we don't have, we forget to appreciate the things that we do.

That’s such a great perspective. It's so easy to get caught up in comparisons, but when I stop and actually look at what I have accomplished, it makes me realize I’m doing better than I give myself credit for. Different timelines, different wins.

Yeah, I am 24 and I feel that way sometimes. I just like to remind myself that we are all on different paths in life and nobody is doing anything ahead of anyone else, they are just doing it a different way! It’s hard sometimes, but if you’re happy then that’s all that matters. Happiness shows differently in every single person

That’s such a healthy mindset, especially at 24. I wish I had reminded myself of that more often at that age- it really is about different paths, not being ahead or behind. Happiness is such a personal thing, and I love the way you put it!

Yes. Every single day. Right now all my friends are either pregnant or freshly postpartum. I’ve been dealing with infertility for the past 3 yrs, and while I am so happy for my friends and loving meeting their littles, I often feel like I’m getting left behind. I’ve learned the only thing I can do is take it easy on myself. I try to give myself grace, get lots of rest, and find any reason I can to laugh and enjoy the little things.

Thank you for sharing that-it’s such a raw and honest perspective. I can only imagine how tough that must feel, especially when surrounded by friends in that stage of life. Giving yourself grace and finding joy in the little things sounds like such a beautiful way to take care of yourself. ❤️

I just turned 39 a few days ago and I understand what you mean more than you know. I don’t feel 39. I don’t feel like I’m about to turn 40. But in reality I know I am And I feel like I’m so far behind in life.

I hear you - it’s such a weird feeling when the number says one thing but your head and heart feel completely different. You’re definitely not alone in that.

Hello everyone. I will be transitioning from the Navy soon and want to work in the cybersecurity field. I have an active secret clearance, BS in strategic intelligence, working on a masters in cybersecurity, and taking Security+ in December. No work experience in cyber, just my education and bootcamp course for Security+. Should I still apply for job that want 2-5+ years cyber experience and/or an active TS clearance?

Just wondering what opportunities are there for junior to mid career professionals in US international tax to work abroad in UK or Australia? Is there a need for US tax professionals there (i.e. Big 4s or in house) or would one need to learn the local tax laws and would that learning be relatively "easier" given existing background in US tax. Cheers

A few months ago I posted my resume here and a couple people said it was too long, 4 pages. I took a step back and was about to change it. Reading it I realized, those four pages truly captured ME and my experience.

Not even 2 weeks after I decided to trust myself, I was offered a Director position in the field I love!

I share that to say, take time to learn yourself. So you know when to take the advice of others or when to TRUST YOU!
