No. I think it’s suspicious when people do it.
Really? Didn’t think it that way. I generally unlock it when I’m looking for a new role

I’ve never had a password on my portfolio.
Showing work you’ve done for the purpose of gaining employment is 100% covered under Fair Use laws, regardless of who claims the copyright to it, or any NDA’s.
Some clients will not allow you to publicly show the work, so a password protected portfolio is required.
No.
If I had some project I really really like and it needs a password, I’ll make sure just the project is password protected. But I also know most people will not bother entering a password.
I used to password and now trying not to. Just don’t include pitches and work that was killed. If it is on the way back machine it is probably safe on your portfolio. Worst case you get a letter from a brand or agency about taking something down. Just avoid any secrets and you are fine.
I agree. I don’t mind recruiters looking at it but sometimes get cringe by creatives snooping around. I have it unlocked since I may start looking for a new role
Nope
I password protect with login info on my resume.

Always. Put the password on your resume and in your email intro.
Adding on to the initial question. Do you think we’ll miss an opportunity by having it?
Yes. Because I post here, Linked In and other places and I can see my analytics. If I had a password I would see zero traffic. I upload my work after it has aired. Never had an issue ever with agency or client.
What if it didn’t get made? Shouldn’t it be password protected? Maybe not for the whole website but select projects, does that deter people?
Do people only put work in their portfolio that got made? What if it was a good concept but client dropped the project or picked a different direction? I feel like there is still validity to show it?
Some of my projects are really NDA’d up (even the agency can’t show it publicly!) so I do for now.
Have been considering removing the password though for the reasons above.
