Does anyone else feel weirdly more stressed around the holidays? I put in PTO weeks ago, but I’m still getting Slack pings, quick questions, and calendar invites labeled “should be light.” Last year, I took three days off and still worked every night. At what point is PTO actually PTO in this industry? How do you disconnect during the holidays without coming back to a mess or being labeled disengaged?

Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

I am currently working as analytics professional. Some of the work included but not limited to are Insights generation, root cause analysis, creation and maintenance of data pipeline for owned charters and projects.

Regularly used tools are SQL (Hive, Trino, MSSQL), python, dashboarding tool.
