Oh all the time. I try to put on blinders and do things one at a time that I actually can get done to cross things off my list and build my confidence.
The other thing is accepting that the work will never stop no matter how late you work on projects. Give yourself breaks and remember it’s just a job - it’s not worth killing yourself over

Going into “freeze” is one of the four main survival reactions we go into in response to stressors. (confronting the threat (fight), escaping it (flight), becoming immobile and numb (freeze), or appeasing others to avoid conflict (fawn))
I often freeze and find choosing one thing to focus on on and considering it a “win” if I can do just that my best bet. Typically I accomplish that task and it allows me to build momentum to go into the next. I might not finish everything but at least I prevent getting stuck.
Honestly AI is what has helped me. I got a merit increase and am up for a promotion because I use AI tools to help get my mind on track.

ADHD 👍
Yes. It's the nature of the modern workplace, plus if you skew adhd it can feel like you are drowning.
I'm writing this lying in bed for a few minutes after my brain was spinning, looking at all I have to do on the computer.
In addition, I've just started a full-time role after freelancing for the last 2 years, and while I like the stability and the feeling of being part of a team, the amount of informational noise and process even at a good company is mind boggling. Freelancing was like, meet once, do the work, check in, do more work, deliver, get paid.
At least I'm remote and don't have time sheets 🙏
Back to the main point, def get checked for adhd, I did (long process), I finaly tried a very small dose of ritalin and it helped. Probably not going to take it everyday, but it will be a useful tool.
The work is only as hard as we make it.
Yes, it used to happen more often before I sought therapy and discovered I had an anxiety disorder.
Start chatting with your doctor about adhd. Executive disfunction is real.
