You’re a fairly rare breed and the sorts of expertise that will be relevant are limited. Do you have at least a few years of experience in your area of law, or have you literally sat the NY Bar without a JD and expect an associate position? (Sorry for the harsh reply, but those in the latter category are legion). Is your practice in capital markets or tax?
Ty for your reply! I currently work as a lawyer in the UK, but would like to switch out of my position. I graduated from law school recently, so I don't have many years of experience. I don't practice in capital markets or tax.
What’s your specialty? The positions in law firms that look for Americans will skew heavily towards cap markets, and they usually want at least a year+ experience in NY Biglaw. Otherwise you’re fungible w English solicitors who usually have multiple years of experience as trainee solicitors/paralegals before becoming a first year (and their salaries are cheaper).
