Does anyone live at the Tides or the Shoreham at Lakeshore East? That whole cluster of apartments looks pretty cool. Recommendations on whether to go for it or stay away?

Keep in mind, you’ll have to Uber/ bus literally everywhere in the city. Sure, it’s close to bean/ millennium park but how many times you’ll visit these places as a local resident. I’d rather look at River North/ Streeterville/ Gold Coast area.
It’s cheaper compared to Streeterville and river north but the apartments finishes in RN/Streeterville is far far far superior

like

I fundamentally don’t understand why anyone would voluntarily live in Lakeshore East so do your research before moving there.
-Nothing within walking distance other than tourists and the Loop
-Not close to any El stops
-Only high rise apartments owned by foreign investors who are never here for as far as the eye can see

Recommendations really depend per person. River North if you’re young and like the city life, Lincoln Park if you’re young but want a bit more laid back, Old Town if you’re young but want to pretend you’re still in college, Wicker Park if you’re a bit less into the club scene, Bucktown if you’re young or not so young and want good access to the city but without the hassle, etc.

I lived in both from about 2015-2018. We loved living there. Great proximity to basically everything... shopping, amazing grocery store (Mariano’s), lake front, millenium park, etc. buildings themselves were really nice and well run. My husband had a studio, then we had a one bedroom, then we had a two bedroom. The finishes got way nicer in the two bedroom (we also had a corner unit, which may have also contributed). Good building amenities (pool, gym, steam room and hot tubs). We really loved it if you are looking for apartment living. You can probably get something cheaper elsewhere (e.f., MPP) but we thought it was well worth the money. We both worked at consulting firms downtown and was a nice walk along the riverfront path to get to work each day... way better than living up north in more of a “neighborhood” and having to take transit

like

lol I feel like you tried to make “neighborhood” a dirty word
To each their own I guess

It’s 100% worth it. It feels like you’re secluded when you’re really very close to many things, including coffee, restaurants, pharmacy, grocery etc. If you want to be walking distance to lively bars you can walk to river north. It’s peaceful and pretty and you should do it.

In addition to what others have said, the buildings are kind of old and not as nice as some of the newer constructions downtown. There are nicer buildings to live in that are in better locations (check out NEMA in south loop)

I live at Columbus plaza in the same area, and vouch that the neighborhood is great.

I would stay away, not a neighborhoody feel, no places close by for food/drinks. Have to walk to RN or Uber somewhere further. The only nice things are private park, close grocery store and proximity to the lake.

How I know? My best friend lives there, and he’ll of a hike to get there and wait to get Uber to that area is ridiculous, plus additional $$ and they get lost all the time with lower wacker street.

I would stay away and find better place somewhere else: old town, river north, west loop, Lincoln park!

Not to mention zero parking when you do get there, unless you’re willing to pay tourist prices at millennium park. I refuse to visit friends in that part of town unless I’m already in the loop and can walk

Lived there. Amazing. Pull the trigger

I lived in the area for a couple years. Walking distance to river north, grant park is ~1-2 streets away, the Lake is ~1-2 streets away. Awesome dog park in the middle, and close to the loop without having the loop feel, along with all the great restaurants around Michigan Ave. Seems like the people complaining about the area really picky which is totally fine but I would recommended it 100%

@ SM 1 😂 What neighborhood do you reside in now?

I would live there over anywhere else if price wasn’t a concern, it’s highly subjective
It’s next to groceries, dog park, normal park, river/lake, GEMS school, it’s quiet and peaceful

If someone is young and wants to party or live a “younger stage of life” then all the other mentioned places are probably better.

This post is an alert message for anyone joining the Johnson & Johnson EMEA account for SAP & had Rakesh Sharma for their Manager round.

He is nothing less than a con man & will promise you a lot to make you join the account. After that he will put you in testing projects. If you ask for a release, he will either not release you or release with a very bad rating and influence other project managers to not take you into their projects.

You will be left with no choice other than leaving TCS.
