Does every attorney take on way too many cases?

Hello all,

I’ve only worked at 1 small law office for several years. We have never had more than 2 attorneys at once and the associate attorneys are always pretty new. Anyways, I need to know if all firms seem to bite off more than they can chew, take on too many cases, and constantly scramble because it’s deadline after deadline back to back. I believe our firm does not have the bandwidth for the amount of cases we have.

Many do, especially in big law. I’ve worked for many solo attorneys that took on many cases, but ensured that their paralegal was able to assist with the case load and those were the most successful attorneys I’ve ever worked for because of the attention to their cases.

The only issues is many small or solo offices, they cannot pay a tenured paralegal, but alot of firms are beginning to train, but it all comes down to the salary for a paralegal to take attorneys in those settings. That’s why many flock to big law.

To everyone judging CMAs, fess up... Did the CMAs tell you what to post on LinkedIn, or did all of you just happen to write pretty much the exact same thing by coincidence?

Follow up question: Is posting it a requirement to be a judge, or could you have just posted nothing and still been a judge?

Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.
