Wow that’s amazing! Congrats on all the hard work paying off 🥳

In six years (college grad) went from $63K to $163K. Not the best but not terrible either.

In 4 years from $200K (exactly $194k) to $500 this year!

Is that TC? What is your base.
Mind sharing what the increments were in the run up to 500k.

4 years ago I made ~$85k total comp. Now I'm at ~$245

likeuplifting

Was at 58k in 2017 and now at $145k base.

Nope, made two jumps, now at a firm that I’ll stay at for a while.

After my first 4 years in consulting (as a post-b-school hire) I went from $170k to $380k (was promoted twice at an MBB and was in a good performance bucket in yr 4)

In the next 4 years went from $380 to just over a million as a newly elected partner.

This is a pretty standard if things go well, but the lifestyle sucks + working for dumb clients gets old after a while. Left not long after making partner for those reasons.

likehelpful

Serious question - what makes a client dumb? My senior leaders hire MBB often but we rarely leverage the insights into action..

Mine went up 120k in 5 yrs, lateral moves FTW

Not accounting for big promotions, best way to do this is changing jobs. Moved from 138k to 200k in during the pandemic (boomerang from my original firm).

Received an offer as a first year analyst lateral hire. The company is a MM shop Baird/WB/HW. It’s 5-15k over what I expected to receive. I know it may sound greedy but I don’t see a sign-on bonus, I was under the impression that these were common practice. Should I bring it up? If so how should I go about it?

Any other hiring managers feeling like all of your candidates are asking for more money last minute just to see how far they can go? Like if we say the range is 110-130K, they say they’re looking for 135K, you offer 135K and then they say they won’t take the job for less than 150? Not even with competing offers. It’s hard for me to stay excited about wanting to work with someone when they do that. What a waste of everyone’s time.

Anyone done a switch from salt to fed?

I currently make 78k at Lockheed but I’m not doing what I’d like to be doing and i felt stuck and after many conversations with my manager and no solution in sight, I started applying elsewhere. I just recently got an offer from a smaller AI company for 95k that I plan to accept. I’m happy to make the jump, I just don’t know how my manager/coworkers will react when I tell them I’m leaving.

What do you do when your partner says they're going to cover drafting/filing something and then they don't do it.....? I don't want to come off as rude in emailing my partner about it, but I simply do not have any time to take care of it and they said not to worry because they were going to do it.
