Working at multi-national public accounting given you experience and you encounter problems that would won’t see everyday working in Industry or a a smaller firm. Big4 has the prestige since you’ll be working with the biggest clients in the world. You will have similar experiences at other large multi-national firms though.
The main thing is learning about different areas of accounting across multiple clients which nay be in different industries and face different problems. The size and complexity of big 4 clients tends to be higher than other firms but that doesnt mean you cant get those skills at a smaller firm. There are just more opportunities to learn it at the big4.
That said there are things people learn in industry or other firms that you may be less likely to learn in the big4. Things like how to practically interact with ERP systems and other things requured in industry but not public accounting.
Ultimately anywhere you go there is a trade off if the work is much easier you wont learn as much.
