Early in my career, success meant promotions and raises. Now it’s more about flexibility, interesting work, and time for my life outside the office.
Has your definition of success changed over time? What does it look like for you now?

Promotion and raises are fine, we all still love those. But doing interesting work is what I really want to seek out going forward. I'd like to work on things that matter rather than just cash a check. But, I'm realistic and know there's nothing wrong with cashing a check.

I am looking for a new job at the end of a long career. I have excellent experience in IP and Supply Chain Management. I've been fortunate to be in a high-paying position in the Los Angeles area and I rarely see comparable positions posted. The comparable positions at my company are filled by one of the big executive search firms. Any recommendations for finding the rare executive-level legal positions or for landing on the radar of the big executive search firms would be much appreciated!

See a lot of people slamming their “big firm” experience and wanting to move on from it. I’ve got 2YOE but not at a big firm and can’t help feeing I’m missing out on something (name brand, skills, network etc). Is it better not to chase it and go somewhere else (tech / startups etc) rather than trying to get in at entry level ?

I couldn’t get an internship while in school. I have a BS in ME and projects from school under my belt. I’ve also passed the FE exam.
