Everyone honest and with a brain knew it was a farce and lawfare. Confirmation below. Enjoy your turn in the hot seat next, Tish James. You are actually guilty and there won’t be any successful appeal for you.

The appellate court upheld the ruling that Trump committed fraud.

“We agree with Supreme Court that the Attorney General acted well within her lawful power in bringing this action, and that she vindicated a public interest in doing so.”

What T3 law school did you graduate from OP?

like

I don’t see that. Even if they did, I’m a T2 grad, Was a great school, 50% cheaper, offered night classes. Graduated with no loans. Done pretty well for myself for the past 29 years, no complaints. Who cares what anyone else thinks of your school?

They said that the fine was excessive, not that the action was “a farce and lawfare.”

From the Law360 write up:

“While they found that the fine should be thrown out, Justices Moulton and Dianne T. Renwick concluded that Justice Engoron had ‘correctly found defendants liable.’

‘We agree with [the state] Supreme Court that the Attorney General acted well within her lawful power in bringing this action, and that she vindicated a public interest in doing so,’ Justice Moulton wrote.”

Can you people write a single sentence without lying?

The employee who was poached was Virginia Giuffre. It seems that this may have been more than a disagreement over employees.

Let’s set aside the fact that this was decided by a clearly divided intermediate appellate court and that more parts could potentially be overturned at the ultimate appellate level.

The entire point of pursuing these dare I say “trumped-up” charges was to inflict severe financial/economic injuries on a political opponent and humiliate/embarrass him in the midst of a political campaign.

Using the legal system to engage in punitive actions against a politician who has removed from office is very third world and is not consistent with traditional American mores and values (Mayors of New Orleans being a notable exception).

Lastly, I find it laughable how many people on the left side of the aisle claim moral superiority after all that has transpired since 2016. If you’re going to pursue political power with a zeal that would make the Serbs in the 1990s seem chill by comparison, you aren’t fooling anyone when you proclaim how virtuous and kind you are.

likefunny

It’s not “mean to journalists,” you corncob. It’s saying things that are demonstrably false while accusing people who are telling the truth of lying. And doing it again and again and again.

You people are revolting.

A "total victory" as Trump claimed, it was not. Still liable.

like

It is kind of like the made-up felony he was convicted of. The left always points out “fraud, sexual abuse (not rape anymore of course), convicted felon…” but it really has no effect. People who agree won’t vote for him anyway, and the other half doesn’t care and it strengthens their hatred of the left. No one’s mind has—or will be—changed.

And I suppose my response is still: “So, what?”

Oof. If this is how you analyze court orders remind me to never hire you. This is not absolution.

So do you also agree that Trump demanding partisan redistricting in Texas in order to try and cling to power in 2028 is also a farce?

like

So tired of the right getting up in arms when the left takes a page out of their own playbook.

like

Anyone in business, particularly real estate, understands this lawsuit is a partisan mess. A victimless “crime” perpetuated by, uhh, everyone in the industry, but selectively enforced against a political rival.

Crazy to abandon all principles of equality under law to cheer for it just because it’s against Trump.

likesmartfunny

So, it's not a victimless crime, what about all the people who do things the right way? Isn't that what you guys say about immigrants? Next, so it's okay to break the law as long as you are rich? Real morals there you have.

The fact that you do not realized he is still liable for fraud is really scary.

Trump and his organization were still held liable for fraud.

“…while holding him liable for fraud” they vacated the penalty. Yall will just forget about the fraud, huh

Transactional junior associate in biglaw. Working for a dedicated practice group rather than in an associate pool. For the past few months, I’ve been loaned to another practice group for a good chunk of time. While the people are decent and the hours aren’t terrible, I detest the work and don’t see a future in this new practice. My main partner says it should end in the next month, but I don’t expect that to happen. Is it a terrible idea to ask to be taken off?
