Definitely not the le Parker Meridien
@OP Rooms and service are just fine - it's a category 6, but definitely doesn't feel like it. Lobby is very bare with no working area. I have also never had so much trouble with wifi at a hotel -- truly a hassle
W Union Square is pretty good. Westin Grand Central is the pits. Never stayed at the Gramercy but I've heard good things
I'm excited for 11 Howard's opening tomorrow. Looks like it will take the title for best SPG after the St. Regis of course
Have a soft spot for the Le Meridien because it has the biggest rooms (not even counting consistent upgrades to Junior Suites) and terrific beds, but recognize that it hasn't been renovated since the 1980s.
W Times Square has convenient public transit options but you have to deal with the foot traffic in that area. I personally love the Grand Central option
Anyone stayed at The Chatwal or Gramercy Park hotel?
No love for the st Regis? Y'all are crazy
Chatwal is an objectively higher quality/category hotel by room and amenities quality (remote-controlled blinds, suede walls, TV in the bathroom mirror, Asprey toiletries)/service offered (butler service) that just fails to impress. Haven't quite nailed down what it's missing…probably a combination of how dead the hotel feels, how unpolished the service is relative to its peers and the shitty views (back of a building) on the quiet side).
Gramercy is ok. Rooms feel like dungeons thanks to all the dark wood accents, but excellent service. Very specific style of decor they're trying to cultivate that you'll either love or hate.
They all suck but being that it's New York you won't wait for shit which is great. I'm in the south now and everyone takes a fucking hour to do ANYTHING
Westin Grand Central. Maybe just because you never forget your first.
KPMG1 Aloft?!?!
@D1 - What happened there..? Not good at all?
W in midtown is alright compared to the others I've seen
W midtown is good but terrible location , hate the touristy stuff around, plus not many good walkable food options
Chatwal is nice with beautiful but small rooms. Location is Times Square tho. Not my favorite neighborhood.
The chatwal
Le Meridien worth it for the brunch place though...
W Times Square/Westin Times Square if you have friends in town. Sheraton TriBeCa if you're trendy. Sheraton/Aloft Brooklyn are probably the most affordable and are in a decent location. Not W FiDi (dead after 6pm)
