I love this watch and nearly bought it several times. Love the history of it (it’s among the first wristwatches ever), love the square shape, love the swagger of it in two-tone, love that you can dress it up a bit with their bracelet swap system.
Three things to look out for:
1) you should be able to get 20-25% discount new if you look hard enough. These do not retain value all that well, but you don’t actualize the loss until you sell and you might not ever feel the need to sell such a timeless design.
2) go to a Cartier boutique to try it on in person. The square shape means the watch wears differently than you might expect. For me, I wish there was a size between medium and large.
3) recognize that you can’t use 3rd party straps on this watch
On the point of finding the right watch for you — I’d say buy what you like with the understanding that most watches are not investments. You’ll figure out the rest later.

My discount = buy from a London-based AD (I do have a purchase history there), negotiate price first, reveal you’re non-EU to get the VAT back at the end, pay some import tax stateside. Comes to 23% when you net it out.
When making a purchase like this, I think it’s important to think cost per wear. If you wear it every day, it’s worth it. In my personal opinion & style, that’s flashier than I would want for a daily driver.
Thanks mate!
I’ve never been a fan of the Cartier watches but the Tank in particular tends to hold value better than most others

Are you male? If so I would recommend to try the XL—M is very dainty on my 7 inch wrist. Go to a store and try it, and make sure you get at least a 10, better 20% discount on that bad boy!
